Finding God’s Supernatural Peace

Isaiah 26:3(NIV)- You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.

Luke 1:79(NIV)- To shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.

John 14:27(NIV)- Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 16:33(NIV)- “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

1 Corinthians 14:33(NIV)- For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.

Philippians 4:6-7(NIV)- Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

What does it mean to find and receive God’s supernatural peace?  Most people mistake worldly peace for God’s peace. The dictionary defines peace in different ways. Here are just a few definitions of peace.

  1. The normal, non-warring condition of a nation, group of nations, or the world.
  2. A state of personal harmony between people or groups, especially in personal relations.
  3. Cessation of or freedom from any strife or dissension.
  4. Untroubled, tranquil or content.

The definition for supernatural is: relating to or being above or beyond what is natural. God’s peace is a supernatural peace that cannot be comprehended.

Philippians 4:7 says, it’s a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. In other words, it cannot be explained completely by human words nor can we fully comprehend it.  God gives this supernatural peace as He wills to those who seek Him out diligently and ask. You might be going through great distress and cannot find comfort. God wants you to come to Him in prayer through Jesus and ask for His help and peace. Even if you do not receive your answers immediately, you have to keep seeking God and asking for His guidance. God knows what we need and when we need it. We may not always understand His methods of answering prayer but, He is loving and compassionate and desires for us to receive His peace as we continually follow and trust Him.  Worldly peace is only temporary.  It is a brief contentment during a time when everything seems to be going right. Then, when trouble comes and confusion and fear sets in, worldly peace is no longer present.  God’s supernatural peace is a total trust in God during every situation whether good or bad. It’s knowing you cannot change the outcome, but He can.  It’s being at complete rest in your heart with no anxiousness distracting you.  It’s realizing everything is in God’s control and therefore you are free from all the burden.   God gives us this special measure of peace when it’s needed.  There are circumstances in our lives where we cannot even get through the day because the hurt and pain we are experiencing is so severe.  We struggle because we keep trying to carry the burdens on our own.  God never told us we had to carry the load alone. In fact, Jesus stated clearly in 1 Peter 5:7-Cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you. He wants you to come before Him in prayer and lay it all down before Him.  Release everything into His hands because the battle is not yours, it belongs to God.  After you’ve given it all over to Him, don’t pick it up again.  Walk away and believe that Jesus will do exactly what He has promised. Then, you will experience that peace which surpasses all understanding.  And the more you read about God in His Word and learn who He is and how He operates, it becomes easier to let go of the burdens.  Suddenly, you’ll find yourself with complete assurance that God has your situations under control and all the anxiousness and anxiety fades away.  His perfect peace grows in you the more you put your faith and trust in Jesus and practice applying His Word in your life daily.  Every time difficult circumstances arise, and they will because Jesus said we will have trials and tribulations; go in prayer and release it over to Him.  He is the perfect Father.  A good father will not turn their child away or mistreat them when they come needing help.  A good father will do what it takes to help their child.  God is that Father.  Through His only son, Jesus, we can come directly to God and He hears us. God’s answers may not be what we expected because the Bible says, His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. It may even take time for you to see results and changes because He will test your patience in order to help you learn and grow stronger.  Then, when you’re faced with even more difficult situations than before, you’ll be better prepared to handle it. It will be easier to wait on God as He walks you through it.  Isaiah 43:2 (NLT) says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”  God is letting us know that stuff will happen but, He is always with us and will never leave us or forsake us.

When we remain “steady” reading His Word daily and stay “ready” in what He has for us each day, we will find His peace each step of the way.

If you have never asked Jesus to come into your heart, that time is NOW!  I encourage you today Do Not Wait Until It’s Too Late!  You do not know when you will take your last breath.

**Remember....Satan doesn’t want you to become saved because the devil wants to kill, steal and destroy you.  His main strategy is to prevent you from hearing and reading God’s Word.

Once you are saved, you are set free from every bondage of sin and completely forgiven. Jesus died for you on the cross so you could have eternal life through Him.  The devil doesn’t want you to be set free because then he loses all control over you. When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior and ask the Holy Spirit to come and take over your life, all your sins are completely forgiven, and you become brand new.  All the old things about you, everything you have ever done, and all your past sins are wiped away forever.  You become God’s child now and He will guide your steps.  Most importantly, in order to know how God wants you to live your new life in Jesus, you need to Read and Study your Bible.  It contains all the answers you need for following Him.
