Provision, Prayer and God's Word

Provision, Prayer and God's Word

You know, we all get into situations and tend to wonder and worry about what is going to happen next. God reminds us in His Word that we can find a place to rest and not worry if we will turn it over to Him. God is faithful and will not let us down.  No matter what the circumstance may be, if you will keep your eyes on Jesus, He will show you the way to have your needs met.  God said that He would be our provider for all things if we put Him first in our daily lives.

(Amplified Version) Matthew 6:25-34- Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on.  Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father keeps feeding them.  Are you not worth more than they?  And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?  And, why should you be anxious about clothes?  Consider the Lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, oh you of little faith?  Therefore, do not worry and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat?  Or what are we going to have to drink?  Or what are we going to wear?  For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His Kingdom and His Righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given to you.  So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own.  Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.

These verses of scripture are clearly important to the believer in Christ as well as non believer, and gives us the reassurance that God takes care of His own.  But, look again at the statement which directs us to seek God’s Kingdom first.  Prayer is the most vital tool we have as Christians to speak directly to God. Through prayer, miracles take place and we are guided by God in the path He would have us to go. Without prayer, we would be like lost sheep, not knowing what to do next.  The Bible plainly tells us that God will abide in us if we will abide in Him.  Through prayer, we are able to intercede for others and allow God to work in their lives as well as our own.  Prayer is talking with God and communicating with Him about our joys, our sorrows and troubles.  God is always listening to a heart that is humble and honest to Him.  You can accomplish every goal through prayer.  Prayer and reading your Bible go hand in hand; wisdom comes from God’s Holy Word and it is in His word that He is able to speak to your heart and lead you into His perfect will.  The Bible says, it is God’s Word that breaks every yoke of bondage. His Word is alive and sharper than any two-edged sword. It is our total ticket to freedom from the deceptive lies this world offers.  God’s Word heals, restores, comforts, and brings peace and victory over everything we are facing.  Jesus gave us the authority to speak His Word and destroy every evil work of the devil.

If you want God’s provision in your life, you have to take a stand and make the decision to not doubt what God can do for you or what He says about you in His Word.  You are a child of the Most-High God. You have been adopted into His Kingdom which shall never end.  He loves you with a love that no man can understand or comprehend.  When you grab hold of what God sees when He looks at you, then, and only then, will you be able to rise above each trial and “hold fast knowing, help is on the way”.  God said, in His Word lies all the mysteries to be found concerning the knowledge and things of God.  If you want to develop a close relationship with God, you must sacrifice some time and study your Bible and meditate on Him.  There is so much knowledge God wants to teach and show you in His Word but, it is up to you to make the effort.  I hope no matter what distractions come your way, you will not stop learning and turning to God.  It is not easy sometimes because many things or disappointments get in the way.  Great losses in our lives can leave us wondering, “Why”?  Those are the best times to turn towards God and seek answers or maybe just peace from Him.  Different emotional stresses and changes in our moods can alter our desire to even read His Word.  I have found that the times when I get busy or lazy and put God aside, all chaos tends to break out around me.

God is our source of strength and if we forget to spend quality time with Him, we are setting ourselves up as an easy target for the devil to practice on.  When you keep God’s Word in your heart and talk to Him throughout the day, things just tend to work out much smoother.  God has also promised us a blessing if we will be diligent and not lose focus.  The cares of this world do not seem so great with God in charge.  Always remember, God will provide, and He knows what you need even before you ask Him. Faith is a fact but, Faith is an act.  God wants us to humble ourselves and ask for help.  The Bible says, "My people parish from a lack of knowledge".  "You have not, because you ask not". Why would God even bother telling us all this if it were not important enough for us to grab and hold on to?  Please keep in mind that God’s timing for our prayers to be answered are not our timing.  He alone sees the beginning for the ending.  He knows what is best and will open all the right doors when we allow Him to take control.  Do not worry about the doors that close behind, even if you think it would have been great.  You cannot see what God can sees.  If you are going to totally lean on God then, you must totally let go.  Trusting in God is a sacrifice of the heart.  You are telling Him, “No matter what I see or what I hear, or what happens, you are God and I will believe your best for me”.  The story in Genesis 22 regarding Abraham and his son Isaac, is a perfect example of this.  God told Abraham he would be the father of many nations/generations.  When Isaac was born, Abraham knew God had fulfilled his promise.  Then God tested Abraham and told him to take Isaac to the mountain and sacrifice him as an offering unto God.  Abraham took him there along with his servants and told them to wait because he and the boy would be right back.  Did you get that?  Abraham spoke in faith.  He believed God, and he knew that even in death, God could raise up Issac so that God’s promise would still be fulfilled.  The Bible teaches that God cannot lie.  His Word will go out to where He sends it and it will not return unto Him void.  The Bible says, Abraham believed, and it was accounted to him as unto righteousness.

The Bible says, even when our fathers and our mothers forsake us, God will never forsake us and leave us alone.  He continually provides and meets our needs in many different ways, not just materially or physically but, also spiritually.  When you reach out to God, He reaches out to you.  He will move mountains for your sake.  Keep hope alive and doubt aside!  Only believe!  God would always tell me those things in my heart.

**Remember these words, “Don’t give up!”  No matter what you see, no matter what you hear!  Let God be God over everything!

I pray that God will not only provide for you today but, He will reveal His perfect plan to you in your life. May God bless you and keep you in His protection.
